Joseph and Anni Albers used the photos of their trips to Mexico as a source of inspiration. Joseph always had a camera with him. His photos are memories of the trip, but at the same time they can be seen as notes of what he had seen. He incorporated the photos into structured collages, which he pasted onto cardboard sheets. These collages were never exhibited by Joseph and thus retained their private character.
